Two choices...a short story

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: 'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.

Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the
plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first! Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball, the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third! Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY: We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate. The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces.

If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.'
So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice: Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?
A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.
You now have two choices:
1. Delete
2. Forward

May your day, be a Shay Day.

This is just WRONG!!!!!

  • Mood: angry

This is pretty absurd, as the news comentator states, the Nobel Peace Prize and local politicians gain greater coverage than a true American Hero. I know this is not our state and its past tense, but this only enforces the belief of our mission as the PGR "Never Again" shall they be forgotten and mistreated by the American People... I find it hard to believe that this never even got mentioned by one of the Nations largest Newspaper organizations, and even one from their own state of residence...This again only reinforces the need for, and continued support for the PGR...just my thoughts and opinions..... but when I see things like this, it makes me proud to be who and what I am as an American and as a PGR member and to be part of such an organization that cares about our military and its members nationwide.

This is just wrong...and really urks me...I do believe I have seen the last of the NY Times...

How many actually understand....?

I was thinking the otherday as I watched a flag ceremoniously folded, how many of those by standers actually understood the meaning behind the folding of the American Flag? I am sure to many it is just another flag folded in a neat little shape and presented to an individual at graveside as a sign of respect and regret. Or for others that it be stored properly... Not so at all... Here is an explination of a proper and respectful folding of the American Flag.

Have you ever wondered why the flag of the United States of America is folded 13 times when it is lowered or when it is folded and handed to the widow at the burial of a veteran? Here is the meaning of each of those folds and what it means to you.

The 'first fold' of our flag is a symbol of life.

The 'second fold' is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.

The 'third fold' is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

The 'fourth fold' represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance.

The 'fifth fold' is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in dealing with other countries may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong."

The 'sixth fold' is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States Of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The 'seventh fold' is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

The 'eighth fold' is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day.

The 'ninth fold' is a tribute to womanhood; for it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

The 'tenth fold' is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since they were first born.

The 'eleventh fold', in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The 'twelfth fold', in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our nation's motto, "In God We Trust".

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for us the rights, privileges, and freedoms we enjoy today.

The next time you see a flag ceremony honoring someone that has served our country, either in the Armed Forces or in our civilian services such as the Police Force or Fire Department, keep in mind all the important reasons behind each and every movement. They have paid the ultimate sacrifice for all of us by honoring our flag and our Country.

The price of Gas versus Printer Ink.???

All these examples do NOT suggest that gasoline is cheap; it justillustrates how outrageous some prices are...You will be really shocked by the last one!Compared with Gasoline...... Think a gallon of gas is expensive? This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 .$9.52 per gallon

 Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ..... $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ...... $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon

 Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .....$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER... Evian water 9 oz $1.49 .......$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and thebuyers don't even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive)

Ever wonder why printers are so cheap? So they have you hooked for the ink. Someone calculated the cost of the ink at...............(you won't believe it....but it is true........) $5,200 a gal.

(five thousand two hundred dollars) So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run onwater, Scope, Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

One has to question,,motives

If you have ever asked yourself why are we in Iraq, Iran, and the many other places around this globe showing a military presence, then by all means I hope you do some sole searching and find the answers that bring you peace.

At the same time you can ask yourself, why were we in Vietnam, why did we storm the beaches of Normandy, and the same for all skirmishes that our people have fought and died for. What solaces do you have afforded via the sacrifices of the untold thousands. I can not in my wildest dreams imagine the torments and devistations placed on mankind of his own hands. I may never understand the reasoning of such lunacy in the minds of our "Great Leaders" as it were...for war among his own kind.

But I d know and am familiar with the devistating effects of such acts in the name of war. Bodies no longer complete, minds locked to a distant time and place..never to again regain its place in time all but forgotten, families torn apart for eternity, memories of distant friends lost during battles, the list goes on...

So I have to ask you all...if this image does not stir an emotion from deep within your heart and soul...have we become a careless nation and tossed the memories of our valued heros and freedoms aside all for the sake of some political garbage heap stockpiled in our communities and rammed down our throats for the betterment of our so called society.

Yes, this innocent wee one knows not the sacrifice paid, but rest assured they know the parent is gone. Never again shall this child see the parent, only this marker graveside. This, is this childs memory for life, not the smiles, the hugs, kisses, goodtimes, and the love..just this marker.

Another question comes to mind...if this innocent little one can find the courage, strength, and respect to pay honor to the fallen, then why can't we as a nation or and individual do the same.

I hope you all have the chance to visit a memorial this weekend, and reflect for a moment on this image.  May you all have an honorable, respectfull, Memorial Day and be sure to thank a Veteran...

Something new..

  • Mood: pissed off

Well as you can see I have gone patriotic here at the blog. Firstly I want to make a clear statement for all to understand.

I do not support this war in any facet. I DO HOWEVER SUPPORT OUR TROOPS and the many others involved worldwide in the efforts to bring and end to an utter disgrace. Wether you believe we are in parts around the world for defense reasons, or for oil reserves, or for just plain 'ol comradery between nations I care not...

The fact remains, we have American servicemen and women dying on foreign soils and being treated like the scum of the earth upon returning to Their Homelands.I don't care if you disagree with the war and foreign policy or not, I don't care if you feel God is punishing them because of gay sexual practices, I don't care whatever your reason and line of thinking is... The fact remains they went in honor and dedication to defend our freedoms to make those choices and for your sorry asses to enjoy life as you know it to be, and to give you the freedom to exercise that right you so diligantly display in disgrace of these men and women

I would really like to see the individual holding the sign roadside and protesting a servicemans funeral shouting out God is punishing us for this and that reason standing next to the soldier having stepped out onto a mine in attempts to save a young innocent child. Or to see them walk the streets of a war torn neighborhood in defence of the innocent women, children and civilians. There is a saying the military have and these assholes really need to pay heed..."If you haven't been there, Shut the Fuck UP"

I have seen war torn areas and the devistating results left behind all in the name of some ignorant individual or for the sake of claiming a piece of ground which no man rightfully owns anyway.. I have seen soldiers, men, and women with torn limbs from shrapnel and frag granades. I have dealt with post traumatic syndrom in individuals and seen their nightmares come alive in everyday life...all for the sacrifice of the so called American that treats them like dirt, those having not an ounce of dignity, or respect in their body.

I have yet to see these protesters stand a line with the enemy approaching and crouch the ground in attempts to not be killed, yet accomplish their ojective. They have never experienced the war waged upon them personally..to have a total stranger put a bullseye on your forehead, or to take a direct shot to the heart. They have yet to experience holding a child with missing limbs, and the lifeless body as its fluids are drained. They have yet to see their friends, commrads, and the many others dying everyday one by one due to some cheeshead saying we need to be there. They have yet to experience the seperation of family friends, comforts of home, the dirty musty smell of the earthen ground as it becomes their home, or the stench of pooled blood all around them.

Yet, we have thousands fighting for their rights not to have to experience these things everyday. This is their welcome upon returning to American soils...I think not... I say until you show some respect, honor and integrity to our servicemen and women, to our country, and to humanity in general...you need to shut the hell up and remain silent. Your protests only show your ignorance, and disrespect for the lives of the thousands lost.

911...where were the protesters then.....presidential assasinations...where were the protesters then....the child that dies from cancer..where are the protesters there? the list goes on...

It's just outright DISRESPECT and I for one am sick of it....

So to all service personell, active, inactive, reserve, past, present, and future...I SALUTE YOU ALL..and cannot begin to pay the respect due each and everyone of you that is due...I can only say from my heart...a profound thank you for your commitment, bravery, and selfless acts to ensure I have the freedom to rant about these buttheads... Your service to country and mankind shall never be forgotten by this individual, and I shall forever Honor your memory and service to country throughout my days here upon this earth. And as tempted as I am to go knock the SOB's out cold and give them a wake call, I shall not..for then I have disgraced your galant efforts and disgraced your memory and all that you fought so diligantly for...

May you all come home safe, remember the fallen, and be treated with the respect due you upon your return home...

hmmmm...now I feel better...

Sometimes.. You just can't fix Stupid...

Here's a little something to start your week off with...

You Just Can't Fix Stupid!!
ONE

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter. 'You don't?' I replied. 'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply. 'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?' 'That's right.' So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets
TWO
I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she
picked up the 'divider', looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?' I said to her 'I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today.' She said'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.
THREE A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When I inquired as to
what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM 'thingy.'
FOUR I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. ' Do you need some help?' I asked. She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?' 'Hmmm,
I dunno. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked. 'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk.'
FIVE Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, 'I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?' 'Just use copier
machine paper,' the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five 'blank' copies.
SIX I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in 'Twister.' I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had
set the 'cruise control' and then went in the back to make a sandwich.
SEVEN My neighbor works in the operations department in the central office of a large bank. Employees in the field call him when they have problems with their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks who had this question: 'I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal. Do you guys have a fire downtown?'
EIGHT Police in Radnor , Pa interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message 'He's lying' was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth. Believing the 'lie detector' was working, the suspect confessed.
NINE A mother calls 911 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her kid to the emergency room, the kid was eating ants. The dispatcher tells her to give the kid some Benadryl and it should be fine.. The mother says, I just gave him some ant killer.....
Dispatcher: Rush him in to emergency room!
Life is tough .. It's tougher if you're stupid
and remember - these people can vote.

Things that make you go...WTF !! THE BUSH FAMILY/ NAZI CONNECTION

  • Mood: Curious, cautious, angry,
  • Weather sunny and warming nicely..

I'm not quite sure what to make of this as yet, but have to admit it has my feathers ruffled. Deniabilty is hard to push when documentaion can back up  accusatory actions. Let me know what you all think about this, I'm really curious.

The Kennedy Assasination:Hitler/Nazi/ Nixon/ Bush connection
By Paul Kangas

Every true blooded American should be really pissed off about this. Betrayal and outright attempts to sport un-American spirit and a regimen designed for treason against the peoples of any nation should just boil the blood to a melting point...

My question is this...

why where all the archives kept aside, and nobody made the connection or darred speak about this prior to putting any Bush into public office least off a Presidency...Why now as his term come to an end...
